There are those who like to surround themselves with books, stumbling over the accumulating volumes. From what there was no news, so far, it is people who like to fill a studio with thousands of letters of different colors, sizes and fonts, stumble on canvas where these letters form words, poems, tales. Who lives like this is Avelino Guilherme Barros Machado, or better, Avelino and Guilherme Barros, since this character is divided in two.
In 2012 he released, in an author's edition, a volume of poems, notes and aphorisms which he called "Word sketches". He signed as Guilherme Barros. He had been writing in secret for a few years now.
Later, the plastic artist, Avelino, was born, who installed himself, since 2014, in a room at the Centro Comercial Stop, in Porto.
Avelino feeds on Guilherme's writing, translating his sentences onto canvas.
Each piece has its history and it takes the name of a person or place. The entire process is documented in notebooks that serve as a "passport" to the works.
